Women Reservation Bill : Vote on women’s Reservation Bill was defered by one day as Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called for an all-party meeting to devise ways of passing a historic bill that was moved in the house earlier in the day.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of strong opposition by members of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Samajwadi Party, Lok Janshakti party. MPs from these five parties forced the postponement of the Rajya Sabha.
The sources said that the Bharatiya Janata Party and Left parties who support the bill, and agreed to vote for it without discussion.
